COMMON FAILURES

Tyres wearing out too fast

The shape of the wear says a lot: a band marked on one side suggests an alignment, patchy wear a damping or pressure problem.

Possible causes

01

Alignment to correct

A misaligned running gear works the tyre sideways and wears one shoulder only.

02

Wrong pressures

Under-inflation wears both edges, over-inflation wears the centre of the tread.

03

Worn shock absorbers

A shock absorber that no longer holds the wheel to the ground produces patchy or wavy wear.

A smooth patch, a bulge or visible cords: the tyre must be changed at once, even if it is young.
