COMMON FAILURES

Braking noise

A braking noise doesn't always have the same origin. Its type (sharp, metallic, dull) and when it appears help guide diagnostics.

Possible causes

01

Worn pads

Many pads have a metal indicator that squeals when their thickness becomes low.

02

Scored or warped discs

Scratched or warped discs can cause friction or vibrations in the pedal.

03

Foreign object or moisture

A small stone or surface rust after rain can cause noise for a few brake applications.

Soft pedal, vehicle pulling to one side, or continuous metallic noise: do not drive before a check-up.

Questions to ask the garage

Indicative preliminary diagnosis. Does not replace a vehicle inspection by a professional.
